DHL Express Africa and DHL Western Province spent the day delivering packages and rugby goodies to loyal DHL customers, media and fans in Johannesburg and Cape Town.
The Courier Run kicked off at 7am with star players like Duane Vermeulen, Tiaan Liebenberg, Juan de Jongh and Eben Etzebeth driving about town, dressed as DHL couriers.
And what a day it was! Between a couple of forward passes between DHL packages, Juan do Jongh answering customer calls at DHL head offices and Gio Aplon getting a parking fine in a DHL delivery vehicle, the day was filled with jokes and laughter between DHL staff, customers and DHL Western Province players.
“It was a great day where the players had the opportunity to work first hand at DHL Express and get to know the brand and business better” said Sumesh Rahavendra, Head of Marketing at DHL Express, Sub-Saharan Africa. “For our customers to meet their idol players in an element of surprise is an experience of a lifetime and just one of the many ways DHL rewards our customers’ loyalty,” he added.
Reach for a Dream
The players also visited Reach for a Dream, a charity DHL supports nationally, where players wore slippers as part of the Reach for your Slippers campaign. Signed memorabilia was presented to raise funds for the charity.
“It was a great day and to understand what our biggest sponsor does in their daytime business was a great experience” concluded Duane Vermeulen.
