How Digital Is Changing #Education In Africa: Subject of Upcoming @HeavyChef Event By Dr Taddy Blecher

On Wednesday 16 March 2016, Heavy Chef will host an event in Joburg, headlined by multiple award-winning activist, entrepreneur and visionary, Dr Taddy Blecher. As a South African pioneer, Dr Blecher has been at the forefront of the free education movement ever since he forfeited life as an actuary and made the decision to dedicate his life to educating the disadvantaged.

Dr Blecher’s story is an inspiring one – the story of a man who founded the country’s first free university and went on to establish a number of revolutionary organisations in this arena. Currently, Dr Blecher is CEO of the Maharishi Institute, CEO of the Community and Individual Development Association, the Executive Chairman of Invincible Outsourcing; and Chairman of the SA National Government task team on Entrepreneurship, Education and Job Creation.

At the Heavy Chef event in Joburg, Dr Blecher will share his insights and opinions on how digital is changing the landscape of education in Africa. Drawing on his unshakeable faith in the youth of South Africa, he will highlight how education shapes human beings and how his holistic approach to human development caused a paradigm shift in his life. According to Dr Blecher, “every student is a genius waiting to happen.”

The event will take place on Wednesday 16 March 2016 at 18h00 for 18h30 at Microsoft’s offices in Johannesburg. Seats go quickly so be sure to secure yours here.

What Is Heavy Chef All About?

As an initiative of digital marketing agency World Wide Creative, the Heavy Chef project is a platform for practical learning – where South Africa’s digital community collaborates, shares ideas and discusses the latest web marketing news. The name comes from the expression “Never trust a skinny chef” and our aim to learn from Heavy Chefs – in other words, those rare folk who eat their own food, walk the talk and practice what they preach.

Heavy Chef is sponsored by: GetSmarter, Ad Dynamo, Microsoft SA, World Wide Creative and Backsberg Wines.
